Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Fifteen residents were on hand for the recent Flin Flon Skatepark Committee meeting to keep the project going. After threats of the committee folding and the project being dropped if no support was shown, the 15 people Ð both youth and adults Ð were on hand. Chairperson Alex McGilvrey said he was "excited" to see the turnout as without the support, there would be no park. Once it was confirmed the project would not be shut down due to a lack of support, the meeting got underway to discuss a few of the important details. After deciding on a committee board, McGilvrey turned the discussion to fundraising. The group needs to raise $300,000 for the proposed skate park. Location At present, the plan is to put the park in the Flin Flon Trailer Court area. Currently, the land is Crown land, but Mike Dubreuil, advisor for the City of Flin Flon, said that by the time the project is ready, the land would be city owned. The skatepark is slated to go near the rocks and the entrance of the trailer court. Fundraising Those in attendance devised ideas to help raise money. Plans are underway for the fundraising aspect of the project. The Flin Flon Skatepark Committee hopes to see the park open this summer. The committee board is made up of: Chair - Alex McGilvrey Co-Vice Chairs - Catherine Daneliuk, Gord Rowe, Jacob Harvie (youth representative) Treasurer - Karen Power Secretary - Kelly Carrington
