Flin Flonners are clicking in the right direction as the community is in the finals for an online fishing contest. Residents have been voting online for the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town and have moved into the finals after the first round of votes. In total, eight regions have communities in the voting process. In the first round, a maximum of two communities from each region were sent into the finals. The Ultimate Fishing Contest is open to both Canada and the United States. Flin Flon and The Pas _ neck-and-neck in voting as of Monday morning _ moved into the finals and continue to battle for votes in the Western region. The final round of public voting will end May 24 as the finals from each region will be announced. The eight regional winners will be announced June 4 with each community winning $25,000. Overall, Port Colborne, Ont. was in first place with 12,439 votes before 9:30 a.m. Monday. Flin Flon's 2,854 votes were rising by the minute as residents shared the post on Facebook and generated interest in the contest. Flin Flon ranked fifth overall _ just a few votes behind The Pas _ but a good 700 votes above the sixth place Deseronto, Ont. If Flin Flon takes first place in the Western region, the $25,000 will go towards the Trout Festival. Voters have until 11:59 on May 24 to continue to vote for Flin Flon in the Ultimate Fishing Town contest. The profile and contest can be found at www.worldfishingnetwork.com.
