On October 17, 2009 several members of the Flin Flon area attended a Taekwondo tournament hosted by the Lorette branch of Kang's Taekwondo Academy. Out of the 216 competitors that day, 11 medals were brought home by the six competitors from Flin Flon and Denare Beach area. Two medals were given for patterns; five for board breaking and four for sparring. Taekwondo competition is not just about knocking out an opponent. It is about one out-thinking, out-pacing, and out-pointing your competitor in a game of physical and mental strategy. The Flin Flon area members not only competed well, they demonstrated a positive attitude and supported one another at the tournament. Upcoming is the Norman Region Seminar, November 7, 2009 hosted by Flin Flon at 104 Tweedsmuir Street. Chief Instructor of Kang's Taekwondo Academy, Master King Yeung, 7th Dan World Taekwondo Federation will be lecturing at the seminar.
