Leanna Campbell has gone from fan to front office for the Flin Flon Bombers.
Campbell became office administrator for the club in mid-April, overseeing finances, raffles and paperwork, among other functions.
“It’s just so nice to be involved with the organization,” she said. “I’ve been such a huge fan for so many years.”
Campbell has been a Bomber fan for 20 years. When she was growing up, she would attend games with her uncles.
When the Bombers began searching for an administrator, it didn’t take Campbell long to phone team president Hank Kosar about the position.
Campbell says she’ll still cheer the Maroon and White on from the sidelines but will now have tasks to complete during the games.
“It’s not going to take away any more time than me going to the games every year,” she says.
Now in the offseason, the Bomber office is busy with season-ticket inquiries and fundraisers.
Currently, the organization has its annual boat draw raffle tickets for sale – the draw will be Tuesday, June 9 – as well as its wine-tasting night on Wednesday, June 10.
Tickets for either fundraiser can be purchased through the Bomber office, located in the Flin Flon Community Hall.
Campbell, along with the rest of the organization, will be busy with the spring camp from May 29 to 31 in Saskatoon and the main camp in August at the Whitney Forum.
Schedule
In previous articles, The Reminder reported on Campbell’s extensive work schedule to help care for her elementary-school-aged daughter Hannah and her epilepsy.
The mother of two says working in the Bomber office during weekdays allows her more time to spend with her family.
“My kids really like it. They like having me home,” Campbell said, noting sometimes she was gone four or five nights a week as well as during the day. “And the organization is really flexible. If I have to leave for a doctor’s appointment or something, they are really good about it.”
