After winning six games in a row, the Flin Flon Bombers dropped a pair on the road last weekend.

They fell 3-2 on Friday, Dec. 16, to Battlefords and lost 8-5 to Kindersley on Saturday, Dec. 17. With a 21-10-2-2 record at the Christmas break, the Bombers sit third in the league behind Battlefords and Estevan.

The Bombers are off until Dec. 30, when they take on the Ice Wolves in La Ronge. The next night, the teams meet again, this time at the Whitney Forum for a New Year’s Eve tilt.

The Bombers went 2-2 during last week’s four-games-in-five-nights road trip. They started the trip by beating La Ronge 4-1 and Battlefords 4-2.

“I thought that we had slow starts but did a good job of not panicking, keeping our composure and found ways to win,” said Bombers assistant coach Garry Childerhose, who led the team along with fellow assistant Chris Bortis while head coach Mike Reagan was away at the World Junior A Challenge.

On Saturday, the Klippers exploded for four goals in the first period. Flin Flon’s Gunnar Nielsen made 10 saves on 14 shots before being relieved by Brenden Newton, who stopped 18 of 22 shots.
