A couple of annual events highlight the recreation schedule for the Flin Flon area this weekend. The Annual Ladies Bonspiel will take place at the Uptown and Willow Park Curling Clubs on March 11-13. With four events, expect a lot of great shots and close finishes. The 9th Annual Richard Beasley Memorial Fishing Derby takes place on the ice at Bakers Narrows Lodge on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. There are free hot dogs and hot chocolate for all participants. Tickets are available at Johnny's and the Gas Bar, or call Erik at 688-4389 or Chuck at 362-2451 for more information. It's time to start thinking about summer sports. Soccer registration will be held this weekend in the Rotary Room of the Flin Flon Public Library. Drop by on Friday from 5-8 p.m. or Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. or call the soccer hotline at 687-8200. Also, girls wishing to play fastball this summer can take advantage of indoor ball for girls in grades 6-8. This takes place Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. in the Parkdale Gymnasium. The Canadian Tire Recreation Corner is a new weekly feature that will run every Thursday. Call 687-3454 if you have an event you would like mentioned.
