The 2016 winter season has been a busy time for the swimmers of the Flin Flon Aqua Jets. Both competitive and pre-competitive swimmers were off to Thompson at the beginning of February for the 2016 Thompson Northern Torpedoes’ Winter Invita-tional Meet.
The competitive swimmers, including Connor Brown, Jordan Gorrell, Cory Lane, Dax Lawrence, Ryan Nawrocki, Madison Campbell and Taylor Lawrence, had a great meet. They came away with 17 first-place finishes, 13 second-place finishes and six third-place finishes.
Connor had five personal best times, Ryan, Jordan and Cory all had three personal bests, and Madison and Dax had two personal bests. This was the second meet for the pre-competitive group and each swimmer saw significant improvement in their swim times from their first meet, which was held in November 2015.
Five swimmers were off to Winnipeg from Feb. 26 to 28 for the Manitoba Junior Provincials.
The team had four first-place finishes and five third-place finishes. Connor Brown had personal best times in all his nine swims, Ryan Nawrocki and Dax Lawrence had personal best times in six of their swims while Taylor Lawrence had personal best times in four swims and Todd Nawrocki had two personal best times.
The weekend of March 19 and 20, Ryan Nawrocki attended the ManSask Open Championship in Saskatoon. Ryan competed in seven swims and attained personal best times in five of them. Way to go Ryan!
The Aqua Jets’ next meet is April 22 to 24 in Saskatoon.
