Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Flin Flon Trout Festival's Fishing Derby came back this year as the month-long challenge was revived. Jasen Bellamy and Annette Last spearheaded the contest and brought the challenge back to the lakes of the Flin Flon area. Participants had the entire month of June to enter fish they had caught, photographed, and measured. Ashton Crone was the big winner with a 30' walleye from Athapap Lake for $1,000. Ed Nabess was second with a 44.25' pike from Cliff Lake for $750. Blayne Hyska came in third place with a 44' trout from Athapap Lake for $500. The Fishing Derby also held random draws: Glenn Burkett picked up a GPS from Tripple Header. Jason Donaghy won a Honda generator for his 33 fish caught, the most entries. Jason Donaghy won a fish cooker from Redpath with the smallest fish _ a 10' pike and a 10' walleye. Random draws were also made for $150 with the winners being Jason Donaghy, twice, Joby Nomeland, Glenn Burkett and Barry Anderson.
