The Battlefords North Stars stole game one from the Terriers in Yorkton, beating them 5-3 on Saturday night. Shane Cusack and Derek Keller scored first period goals for the Stars, while Michael George and Mitch Woods increased Battleford's lead to 4-0 after 40 minutes of play. Jason Wagar, Perry Faul and Chris Korchinski had the Yorkton goals, while Jared Mohr added the fifth goal for the Stars. The Terriers held a 25-24 edge in shots on goal. Yorkton's Kevin Dziaduck was yanked after allowing four goals on 15 shots in 31:02. In the remaining 28:58, Brett Bothwell made eight saves, allowing one goal while the Stars were on a power play. The MJHL final is now a best of three affair, as the Portage Terriers tied the series at 2-2 with a 5-4 win on Thursday night. Colin Slobodian led the way for the Terriers with a three goal night. Felice Turano and Mike Audino had the other Terrier goals. Jason Tuthill, Jordan Cyr, James Knight and Travis Kornelson scored for the Steelers.
