Michael Young has had a variety of options in his hockey career since leaving the Flin Flon Bombers, including three NHL development camps.
Now the former Bombers captain has made his next move.
Young, who played with the Bombers from 2007-10, has just signed to play with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL) for the 2014-15 season.
The Bruins are the Boston Bruins’ farm team.
In the last four years Young has taken part in three NHL developments camps – including most recently for the San Jose Sharks – and played Division 1 hockey for the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
While attending school, the Calgary native earned 68 points – 13 goals and 55 assists – in 148 games with the Mavericks.
Young wore the “C” for the Bombers in his final season in Flin Flon. He also concluded his university career as team captain.
Now the blueliner will head to the Bruins, a top-tier NHL farm team, to start the next chapter of his career.
