The Estevan Bruins have made two separate deals with SJHL peers as they continue to get their house in order for training camp, which starts on September 1st. The Bruins acquired 18-year-old defenseman Derek Wilhelm from the Melville Millionaires. The Benson native wrapped up his 'AAA' Midget career by scoring one goal and no assists in 12 playoff games with the Tisdale Trojans. He had one goal and 13 assists in 37 games in the regular season. The Mils get 19-year-old Brad Marcoux and an unspecified list player in return. The dimunitive forward from Viscount had one goal and 10 assists in 51 games split between Kindersley and Estevan. The 5'8", 155 Ibs forward was one of the top Saskatchewan 'AAA' Midget Hockey League performers in 2002-03, when he had 13 goals and 25 assists in 44 games with the Beardy's Blackhawks. Last week, the Bruins also sent defenseman Fritz Sauter to the Flin Flon Bombers for a list player. In Flin Flon, Sauter will be re-united with former midget coach Ryan Hoffman. The 5'10" 175Ibs native of Kenosee Lake scored two goals and six assists in 34-games last season. A member of the 2002-03 Regional 'AAA' Midget champion Yorkton Harvest, Sauter played five games with Kindersley prior to his move to the Bruins last November.
