Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Flin Flon Creighton in motion Committee is giving teams a chance to register early for the upcoming Health Challenge. By entering a team by Dec. 31, participants will be entered into a draw. The Health Challenge, this year, will run from Jan. 14 to Feb. 24, 2013. The six-week challenge will encourage the same healthy lifestyle choices from past years, but with new and exciting ways to keep active. Rid of the bonus activities like the Bingo and Shopping Challenge, this year's program will offer free classes to seven different activities in the community. On a first come, first serve bases, teams will have the chance to participate in an appetizer cooking class with registered dietitian Joanna Ledoux in January. Learn to cook As well as appetizers, there will be a cooking with quinoa, also with Ledoux, in February to make quinoa salad, turkey meatballs and a healthy dessert. Zumba will be offered by instructor Carla Wabick in January and February with a maximum of 50 at each session. Tracey Salamondra will demonstrate full body functional fitness at her studio on Main Street. in motion Committee member Courtney Whitmore will be hosting a snowshoeing class in January while a cross-country skiing event will be held the following month. The Aqua Centre will be handing out free one-week passes for the fitness room, pool and Aqua Fit classes. These seven free activities are just a few of the great things to come in the 2013 Health Challenge. Register your team by Dec. 31 to be entered in the early bird draw. Following the early registration, deadline for entries will be Jan. 10. Teams must consist of between four and six adults _ with a cost of $5 per player. Participants in past Health Challenges have said they have gained more energy, lost inches, felt great and even had better self-esteem.
