Former Norman Northstar Richard Dupre scored three goals to lead the Norway House North Stars over the North Winnipeg Satellites 6-2 in the gold medal game of the Manitoba Junior 'B' Final Five Provincial Championships in Thompson. The North Stars will now represent Manitoba at the Keystone Cup Western Canadian Junior 'B' Championships in Scriber, Ontario later in April. The five-team tournament will include teams from Northern Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. The game was close after 40 minutes of play, but Norway House scored four goals in the final frame. Tyler Mosquito, Scott Klein, and Joey Tacan had the other goals for the winners, while Travis Clarke had three helpers. Chris Bialowas and Brian Bell set each other up to account for the Winnipeg goals. Goaltender David Herman made 33 saves for the win, while losing netminder Mike Johnson turned away 27 shots. Herman was named the tournament MVP. Winnipeg's Bell was named to the tournament all-star team on defence, as was Norway house blue liner Nathan Albert. Forwards were Charlie Karetak from Norway House, Selkirk's Lydel Fussey and NCN's Steen Frees. The all-star goaltender was Split Lake's Terry Spence.
