Parents and friends were treated to an exciting swimming performance on April 30 at the Flin Flon Aqua Center as 24 swimmers performed their synchronized routines with great precision. Awards and presentations were made after the swims were completed. The Aqua Doves recently traveled to The Crocus Challenge in Winnipeg in mid April to show off their skills and artistic ability. With approximately 150 athletes in attendance, Flin Flon's competitors did extremely well. Similar to a skating competition, swimmers first performed small but difficult moves individually, called figures, on which they were scored by a panel of three judges. They performed six figures and were scored out of 10. After the figures were completed, the group routines are performed. Each group was categorized according to star testing. Level 1, 2, and 3 groups all placed in the top three in their category. At both the local water show on Tuesday and the Crocus Challenge in Winnipeg, the girls performed their routines they have spent the season working on. The following groups performed: Ashley Andersen, Meghan Oliynyk, Bree Patterson and Daley Shaw swam to Jump in the Line by Harry Belafonte Raeanne Kozar, Madelyn Lies, and Tara Whitbread swam to Bom Bom by Sam and the Womp and were coached Maryn McKee, Gemma Davis and Caitlin Henderson swam to Beauty and the Beat by Justin Beiber Jessie Kozar, Cherity Odut, Abbey Werbicki and Shannon Williamson swam to Shake, Rattle and Roll by Bill Haley & the Comets Anna Lies, Gracie Dareichuk and Amasha Epa swam to Lets Dance by Chris Montez Gracie Baynton, Olivia Mathews and Wyntr Scheres swam to Trouble by Taylor Swift Jayde Boyd, Kalena Kittle, Tessley Korchinski and Taylor Oliynyk swam to Pink Panther/Inspector Gadget Mix Results from the Crocus Challenge are: Level 1 1.
