The Flin Flon Atom A Bombers earned a big 4-1 win over the Warman Wildcat Tigers in a recent Prince Albert hockey tournament.
The Bombers finished first in their pool after the round-robin play, earned overtime wins and made it into the finals against Warman.
The Maroon and White played hard all weekend, said coach Scott Eastman, with big wins in the Snake Lake Atom Classic.
The Bombers had a big 15-0 win over the Prince Albert Northstars, with Ryan Pedwell picking up a shutout, and then a 10-1 win over the Saskatoon Flyers Legends in game two of the weekend.
The team had another big win in the quarterfinals, a 12-0 victory over the Saskatoon Renegade Senators. Logan Salamondra picked up Flin Flon’s second shutout of the weekend.
The Bombers’ biggest test of the Jan. 23 to 25 tournament came in the semi-finals with a
match-up against the Saskatoon Redwing Hitmen. Evan Reid scored the winning goal in double OT to pick up a 4-3 win and move his team to the finals over the Wildcat Tigers.
Eastman says it was another tough game for the Bombers, but they secured the 4-1 win to bring home the gold.
The Atom A and AA Bombers will travel to The Pas for their next tournament, later this month, while the Flin Flon Peewee AA and A Bombers hosted a tournament this past weekend.
