ItÕs a few down and 13 to go for JayÕs Dirty Dozen as they are heading to Moncton, N.B. for the Slo Pitch Nationals in August. As they defeated the teams in the area, they are hoping they can stick together as they head to the Maritimes to defend their title. Last year, a week before provincials, team member Jason Morran passed away. And captain Trevor Thompson says with that the team had something to play for at Provincials. JayÕs Dirty Dozen walked away with a third place and only one loss that weekend. ÒWe put mercy on everyone and we only lost one game and came in third place for our division,Ó says Thompson. The team was satisfied after walking away from Provincials. And with this being the first time the team has qualified for Nationals, the captain says they are expecting to do well. ÒWeÕve done (well),Ó he says. ÒWe beat all the teams here and we will do the best we can. ÒWe will be representing Flin Flon.Ó Aside from JayÕs Dirty Dozen, who will have 15 players going East, there will be 13 other teams from around the country there for the same reason. ÒWe are happy,Ó he says. ÒWe want to see what we can do. There are going to be a lot of competitive and different teams there. So weÕll see whatÕs out there. ÒItÕs going to be awesome...with very competitive teams.Ó For the majority of the team, this will be their first trip to New Brunswick. The team is heading down a few days early and staying a few days later to take in what they can. JayÕs Dirty Dozen roster for Nationals will be: Colin Hynes Connie Atkinson Candice Hillard Amber Chrisp April Rachuk Carrie Deace Trevor Thompson Jason Carmichael Regan Bailey Cory Grant Jodi Suski John Smalley Ryan Shuya Dick Hopkinson Kari Lentowicz The teams gather in Moncton for the long weekend in August as JayÕs Dirty Dozen plays from August 1-4.
