In Dennis Kubat's debut with the Flin Flon Bombers, the team lost 6-3 to the Kindersley Klippers. The next night against his former team, the Battlefords' North Stars, he lifted the Bombers to victory. "It was unreal," said Kubat, on scoring the winner. "I couldn't ask for a better ending." Kubat took a pass from Braden Olszewski on a 3-on-2 and placed his forehand shot top shelf. Getting that goal likely eased the shock felt when he found out he was traded, but unlike many others who were given the same destiny to play for a struggling team, Kubat reported. It never crossed his mind to not report. "I just tried to take the positives," Kubat explained, as he looks forward to getting more ice time. Kubat spoke with his father on the phone about the situation. "He gave me the positives and I will get more of a chance here," he said, as Kubat also has family in Flin Flon. "I'm happy to be a Bomber." He also looks forward to the playoffs, which the Bombers appear to head into. "We're just as good as anyone," Kubat said. "They're hard working." He compared the Bombers to the Stars of last season who lacked in skill, but made up for it with work ethic. "I think whoever plays us won't want to play us," he said. He believes the team can win the Survivor Series and give the second round opponent problems. "I want the Stars," he said, with a smile. Kubat expects to produce offensively for the Bombers because it's something he has always done. "Back in midget 'AAA' I was offensive," he said. "A good scorer who worked hard and does the little things." With the Stars, he scored four goals, 11 assists for 15 points in 31 games. Bombers back-up goalie Travis Crickard said that Kubat will be a great addition to the team. "Found that he fit in well into the line up and that's a sign of a good player because he can adjust to players easily," Crickard said. "I thought it was a nice kick in the teeth to Battlefords' and that they made a mistake to let him go."
