Compiled by Kelly Carrington Jason Jacobson continues to make a name for himself in competitive curling. Originally from Denare Beach, Jacobson competed in the recent Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, part of the 2012-13 World Curling Tour. Though his rink did not win the bonspiel, Jacobson is still a national champion, as The StarPhoenix noted in a Sept. 21 article on the talented curler. 'It flies a little lower on the radar,' Jacobson, a Saskatoon police officer who skipped his team to the Canadian Police Curling Championship earlier this year, told the newspaper. Jacobson and his teammates from the police bonspiel _ Mounties Jeremy Tipper of Saskatoon, Gerry Schneider of Regina and Al Dmytryshyn of Turtleford _ will look to defend their title next spring. The big bonspiel will be held in Saskatoon, a long way from last year's event in Montreal, from March 23 to 30. As The StarPhoenix noted, Jacobson also finds time to play the men's circuit with a new team that will compete in five World Curling Tour events this year. That included the recent Point Optical Curling Classic, where Jacobson and teammates Matt Froehlich, Chadd McKenzie and Clint Dieno put forth a strong effort. 'We work harder at the men's (than the police curling) and it takes up a lot more time,' Jacobson told The StarPhoenix. 'But it's important to all of us (on the police team) to win again and to try and show well, especially in our hometown.' The StarPhoenix's piece on Jacobson was entitled 'Jason Jacobson flies under the radar.'
