The 23rd Flin Flon Open Dart Tournament lived up to its expectations over the past weekend with almost 100 dart players taking part in a very successful event. National Singles Champion Rory Orvis captured the Men's Singles title with a win over former Flin Flon resident Shane Perry. The Ladies Singles title was won by Irene Plowman from The Pas over local Team Manitoba rep Jackie Davis. To add to the excitement, the perfect finish of 170 was achieved by Gerry Convery of Winnipeg, picking up the $800 sponsored by Northstar Scaffolding in the first game of the knockout round against Tony Bunz from La Ronge. The organizers of the event, The Northern Flytes Dart Club, were delighted with the attendance and support from the local area businesses and community. See The Reminder later in the week for a complete listing of event winners.
