The 32nd Flin Flon Open Dart Championships were a huge success. The Flin Flon Falcon dart club hosted their 32nd dart championships last weekend with players traveling in from all over Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In six events, athletes were able to compete in men's and ladies Singles, Doubles, mixed Triples, and the usual Friday night blind draw. A total prize payout of $4,160 was appreciated by the participants as they acknowledged what has become one of the premier events on the busy Saskatchewan darts schedule. In the upstairs of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 73, competitors took their best aim in the three-days of darts. Former Canadian National men's singles champion Rory Orvis regained his Flin Flon singles title beating newly crowned Saskatchewan men's Single Champion Gerry Rorick from Rosetown. Ladies Singles went to Judy Cleavely over daughter and Saskatchewan junior girls representative Miranda Cleavely from Hudson Bay. Miranda teamed up with Aspen Cleavely to win the ladies doubles. Men's doubles winners, for the third consecutive year, went to Rod Swenson of Prince Albert and Saskatchewan top ranked player Karsten Larsen of Saskatoon. The triples winners were Orvis, Mike Becker, and Susan Becker from Brandon. Local Jamie McCutcheon teamed up with Orvis to win the blind draw and the Alex Krassllowsky memorial tribute. Almost 50 players took part in the events that was given tremendous support from the local community, and Branch 73.
