Dancers from the Northern Lights Dance Academy proudly took the stage last week as they performed in the year-end recital. Ballerinas to hip hop dancers were on display as their efforts and training was evident. Proud family members, friends and fellow dancers watched as 13 groups as well as soloists and duets took the stage. The Flin Flon Arts Council show was held at the R.H. Community Hall as parents took their seats either on the floor or in the raised seating to watch their stars. Hosts Hailey Whitmore and Brayden Kosar welcomed each group to the stage as they later performed in the finale in the 15-and-older category. Dancers start as young as three in the Northern Lights Dance Academy as this year the youngsters performed to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. In the four-year-old group the dancers were on stage to both Upendi and the Wiggles Monkey song. The five-year-olds danced to Tangled and Everybody Has A Name while the six-year-olds danced to Bad Day and Shake Your Grove Thing. A short intermission gave the second group of dancers a chance to prepare as the seven and eight year olds took the stage. They performed to Never Ever while the nine and 10 year olds danced to Good Time The 11- and 12-year-olds had an impressive dance to Everybody as the 13- and 14-year-olds performed to Lights. Soloists and duets took to the stage next as they impressed the audience with their own choreography. The end out the show, the 15 and older group danced to Bad as they showcased the older talent in the Academy. The dancers put on two recitals last week _ a show on Wednesday and one on Thursday. Proud parents and family members watched both nights as their daughters and son took to the bright lights. The recital marked a year of hard work, dedication, and improvement for the dancers. 'Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion' read a quote from Martha Graham _ a dancer born in 1894 _ on the recital's program.
