The 2004 White's Drug Store Curling Classic was held in Swan River November 11-14 with a total purse of $45,000. There were 32 teams entered with such names as Burtnyk, Scales, Heidt, Spriggs and Shymko, you get the picture. This was going to be a very challenging weekend! Flin Flon had one team entered ? the Jim Quinn team of Blaine Gogal, Russ Reeves and Scott Hanson. Unfortunately the guys played Shymko off the bat and after going down to defeat to him, they played Woodward and had a great game, going an extra end, but they just couldn't pull it off. In their third game they lost to Sauder. Better luck next time guys! Well, in the end the winner turned out to be Brad Heidt with Denare Beach's own Jason Jacobson playing third, Mike Jantzen and Steve Laycock. The Heidt team took home a purse of $12,000. Don't forget the Grey Cup Spiel at Willowpark during the weekend of November 19-21 and the floater spot for the Provincial Playdowns takes place at Uptown on November 26-29. Should be some great curling!
