Curlers hit the ice at Uptown (six sheets) and Willowpark (four sheets) about mid October. It appears that the men's teams prefer Willowpark with 16 men's teams curling on Tuesday and Thursday nights. All full draws. As well, the Hot Stove League has two full draws on both Monday and Wednesday afternoons. In the afternoon at Willowpark the ladies have nine teams curling on Tuesdays and Thursdays with six teams curling on Monday night (room for two more) and eight teams curling on Wednesday nights. Also the mixed curling is going strong at Willowpark with the 7 p.m. draw almost full (could use two more teams) and the 9 p.m. draw full. The first bonspiel is usually the Grey Cup which is always held at Willowpark. As for Uptown, I am still waiting confirmation on some of the teams but the ladies do have three full draws on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday early, and they have six teams on the late draw on Wednesday (they could use a few more teams there). As for the men I have been told that they have have 16 teams with two draws Ð one on Tuesday and one on Thursday. I am really interested in covering the curling and various bonspiels, however, I can't cover what I don't know about! So, if you want coverage please call Gail and let me know. Just leave a message at The Reminder (687-3454) or at my home (687-3344).
