Last weekend The Pas Curling Club hosted the Aseneskak Casino Curling Classic with two local teams competing. Defending champion Bob Bensen and his team of Ryan Watt, Trevor Watt and Kelly Davis lost out going into the eights but they have nothing to be ashamed of. They played seven games before getting knocked out by Fry on Saturday night by a score of 6-2. Other games were: Friday morning Bensen won over Bird 1-0, Friday evening Bensen won over Kozlowski 7-1, and Friday night at 10 p.m. Bensen lost to Derbowka 6-3. Saturday, Bensen played Asham at 3 p.m. and beat him handily 11-4, then at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday Bensen took out Antila 7-6 and then Bensen went down to defeat to Fry 6-2 Saturday night at 10 p.m. Great showing guys. Ed Sattelberger's team went out three straight losing to Galbraith 10-5, then to Fry 10-1 and to Thompson 8-5. The winner of the Aseneskak Curling Classic, playing B. Scales in the final, was D. Connor. This weekend the Jim Quinn rink of Blaine Gogal, Russ Reeves and Scott Hanson traveled to Snow Lake for the cash spiel there. Their first game was yesterday morning against Shymko. We will have the results in The Reminder early next week. Locally, Willowpark will be holding their annual Grey Cup Bonspiel the weekend of November 19-21. Entries close November 17. Uptown will be hosting the Floater spot for the Provincial Playdowns. Entries closed November 10, 2004. The play downs will take place November 26-29, 2004. See you at the rink!
