The Border Group held a Winter Cubbing event on March 19 & 20 at Ron Potkonjak'sÊ home at Bakers Narrows. On Saturday at 1:30 p.m., we toured the Flin Flon Airport, weatherstation and airport machinery. We also had a tour of Jackson's hanger where we saw several planes, and had an inside tour of the cockpit of one plane. We all received a postcard from the pilot who gave us this wonderful tour. We went on a nature hike from the airport to Ron's home where we worked on bird and tree identification. Snow was shovelled to freeze over night in preparation to hollow out our quinceys on Sunday. Sunday found us hollowing out our quinceys where we had up to seven cubs in at one time. We spent some time ice fishing (pictured), skidooing, quading and we learned how to build a fire. Our fires were used for a hotdog and marshmallow roast later in the day before our event ended on Sunday at 4 p.m.
