Just over 300 students in K-8 from Creighton Community School participated in a spell-a-thon in hopes to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross' Haiti Relief. The final results are amazing and heartwarming. Altogether, $8,385.41 was brought in! Each individual student who participated needs a big pat on the back. Over $25 was brought in from 91 individual students and 21 students brought in over $100 each. Out top fundraisers were Abbey Webicki (grades K-2) with $250, Cally Hammond (grades 3-5) with $500 and Brandon Ireland (grades 6-8) with $171. These three students will be treated to a "Red Carpet" day today. They will be chauffeured to school in the school van, greeted with a red carpet, the staff and paparazzi. They will then be pampered with a mini-makeover by Mrs. Hovland and her cosmetology students. Our administration team has graciously agreed to give up their roles of principals to our top earners for the day. The new administration team of six will also go out for lunch together. The Government of Canada has promised to match any contributions made to the Haiti Relief fund made by Canadians. We're living in a global world and our students have just shown they are setting an example of being terrific global citizens.
