The Creighton Skating Club will be proudly presenting "In the Big Blue" for this year's carnival theme, with two shows this weekend. You can catch the show on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The club has 100 members, but only 50 will be featured in the carnival due to the Ladies' Bonspiel, fishing derby and hockey provincials. The skaters will range in age from 4 to 15. The theme "In the Big Blue" will feature a variety of sea creatures, including sharks, beluga whales, lobsters, tropical fish, sea fairies, star fish, mermaids and even a pirate. When you see all the wonderful costumes, make sure you thank Mrs. Val Dixon for sewing the costumesÊand to Kenda Kozar for helping as well. Awards will be handed out after the Sunday show, including Skate Canada CanSkater of the Year, Most Improved CanSkater, CanPower Skater of the Year, and Most Improved CanPower Skater. As well, some of the CanPower skaters will be demonstrating their tests that they will be taking on March 16, 2005. The skaters are coached by Rhonda Chaisson, with help from Kirby Davis and Kristen Gourlay, who are Level 1 Phase 1 coaches.
