Roughly 100 cowboys and cowgirls took over the Joe Brain ChildrenÕs Petting Zoo for their annual Zoo Hay Day last weekend. Children, who were decked out in cowboy hats, spent their afternoon getting their nails painted, eating 'Cow Pies', enjoying watermelon, making crafts and taking part in a scavenger hunt. Flin Flon Parks and Recreation's Aimee Deans says though it was a sunny day and many people were at the beach, Òthose in attendance enjoyed themselves.Ó Activities were coordinated through a time schedule, as in past years, to make it easier on the volunteers, says Deans, noting that the event was fun. Like past years, those in attendance had their paces painted, got balloon animals and raced in the potato sacks. To keep things in theme with cowboys, children were able to take part in a Cow Pie Eating Contest, where contestants laid on the grass on their stomachs and ate a plate of cow pies, which tasted a lot like chocolate pudding, without using their hands. And to wrap things up, Doug and The Divas were on stage playing songs for the children like Old MacDonald Had A Farm.
