The following is a submitted article by Ted Highfield. Ted played in the first 27 or so Roller Goodwin Classics and disputes the accuracy of those counting the annual tournaments. "While it is difficult to confirm any specific number of tournaments, I can assure the readers I have personally organized at least two different 25th Annual RGM Classics. I consider this simply a cheap and crass marketing gimmick to bolster attendance and participation," said Ted. "I have even gone as far as to leak information suggesting this may be the last RGMT. This was done only to achieve the same results. I do not know how many tournaments have been played to date." Ted writes: "I have been reminiscing with players around town for the past few days about the Roller Goodwin Memorial Tournament and the stories have been told about what games were played, what years they were played in, and where the games were hosted. The truth is this is the 31st tournament. The only difference between now and then is the first tournament was full body contact and there were only two teams: the Flin Flon Independent Order of Swiners Club against the Calgary Jeff's. Now there are 13 teams with some family names who played in the original tournament, some younger and faster, but George Hill still never back checks. We still honour our hockey roots and remember the fallen players, the Flin Flon hockey spirit and friendships still flourish, the stories still get told a thousand times. But most of all congratulations to all who have played, participated and organized the great tradition, and by the way: is this the last one?"
