In honour of Terry Fox, Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach will be raising money to combat cancer. In Flin Flon, coordinator Aimee Deans would like to surpass last year's Terry Fox Run, which raised under $5,000. Deans says the event "makes you realize how important all this is." The run will be held Sunday, September 16, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. beginning at the Rotary Wheel. Water and refreshments will be served. Along with the walk, September 14 marks the date of Terry Fox at Work Day. Anyone wishing to volunteer can call Aimee Deans at 681-7542. Pledge forms can be picked up online at www.terryfoxrun.org or at Subway or the Rec Office. Denare Beach will be holding their walk on the same day as Flin Flon, but coordinator Laurie Stomp says "all the money goes to the same place, so it doesn't matter where it comes from, just that it does (come in)." The walk will be held at the Denareplex starting at 10:30 a.m. and for those who are interested, a documentary on Terry Fox will be showing at 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to help out is to call Laurie Stomp at 362-2708. Creighton's Terry Fox Run will be held September 17. Creighton Community School will be taking part in the activity, as students and staff are preparing challenges for one another to raise money. For more information on the Creighton Terry Fox Run, contact Channa Senyk at 688-8254.
