Blake Rolston has no intentions of changing the way he performs for the Flin Flon Bombers. Why should he? His hard working approach is one of the reasons the coaching staff named him captain. "It wasn't an impulse decision," said Bombers coach-GM Doug Stokes, who made the choice with the help of assistant coach Brian MacDonald and assistant GM, Graham Garrett. "There was a lot of reasons that we made the choices we made and I guess first and foremost is the respect that he demands in the dressing room. He's a guy that's respected by everybody on this hockey team. He's an honest sincere person that exemplifies what you're looking for in a captain." Stokes also feels that Rolston is a good guidance for the younger guys Ð a good role model for the them. "We just felt that his respect amongst his mates in that room is very very important to us and we think he's a guy that's earned everybody's respect," he said. "He's a foot soldier. What you see is what you get and it doesn't alter from game to game, it doesn't alter from shift to shift. He plays hard every practice, he doesn't take any time off, and just an outstanding citizen that's got tremendous respect amongst all of us, even from the coaches." It would be hard not to give Rolston the C considering what he brings. Plus, he won't back down from anyone and will fight if needed. "He's not afraid to stand up for his teammates," said teammate Mackenzie Groenewegen. "He plays tough and plays hard every night and that's just something you can always follow. I thought it was the best decision for our team." Defenceman David Holinaty said it's a good thing for Rolston. "Roly's a good leader and I think he'll do an excellent job leading this club." Holinaty said the Bombers new captain is more the silent type as he always leads by example. The Bombers found the need for a new captain after Blake McCullough chose to leave the team to play with the Langley Chiefs of the BCHL.
