Two local heroes made their way to Winnipeg this weekend as they were being honoured for their athletics. Craig MacIntosh, coach of the Kopper Kings at Hapnot Collegiate, was honoured to receive the AAA Boys Volleyball Coach of the Year award. The coach of seven years was awarded for his hard work with the Kopper Kings, who recently competed in the SR Volleyball Provincials in Winnipeg. MacIntosh says the award was unexpected and surprising. "I actually hadn't heard of the award until this year," says the excited coach. Although MacIntosh says he's not sure how he was nominated, or by whom, he does say he's thrilled. "It's nice to have the continuity in any program and the achievements the boys volleyball team has made," he says. "I enjoy what I'm doing and I hope to be here for a few years to come," he says, adding that it's "very important to add to a program every year and not to have to start from scratch all the time." Along with MacIntosh, Grade 12 student Peter Weber was honoured as an honourable mention for the All Star Team.
