The 2004-05 season marks a change in method for the Canadian Junior 'A' Hockey League's ranking system. CJAHL President Marty Knack says a weekly ranking of teams across the country will now be weighted according to a number of factors, which include individual league success at national championships combined with parity within the member league. Each Junior 'A' President or Commissioner will have input into the overall ranking with other factors under consideration to include home/away records, strength of division, and calibre of schedule. "SJHL President Laury Ryan deserves a lot of the credit for being the person to jumpstart this new format," says Knack. The idea originated from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. In previous years, CJAHL rankings were based solely on the won-loss record only. "I think this will be a good conversation starter and will spark debate amongst fans, coaches, managers, and league presidents and commissioners," said Knack.
