The Estevan Bruins extended their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League winning streak through 12 games during the week ending January 2 to assume the Number 1 position in the SP Apparel rankings in the Canadian Junior 'A' Hockey League. Estevan is first in the Sherwood Conference, and overall, with a 26-7-5 record. The Nanaimo Clippers of the British Columbia Hockey League are ranked second. Nanaimo is 30-6-0-1. Also, BCHL attendance reached 413,686 for 309 games through January 2, for an average of 1,339 fans per game. The BCHL leads the CJAHL in attendance. The Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL are first among 138 CJAHL teams with an average of 2,647 fans per game, through 19 home games. Chilliwack has attracted 50,289 fans. Nanaimo and the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL are second and third, respectively, among CJAHL teams with averages of 2,458 and 2,239 fans per game, through 18 home games each. CJAHL attendance has risen to 1,460,278 as the teams in 10 member leagues enter the stretch run towards the playoffs.
