The Humboldt Broncos have graduated two players to the Regina Cougars of the CIS. Forward Scott Degelman and defenseman Brendan Vanthuyne concluded their junior careers last month when the Broncos lost to the Kindersley Klippers in the Dodge Conference final. Degelman, a 6'4, 210 lb winger from Raymore, scored 26 goals and 34 assists in 58 games during the regular season and then battled through an injury riddled playoff to record five assists in seven games. Vanthuyne is 6'2 200 lb defenceman from Liberty and scored 11 goals and 23 assists in playing a key role on the Humboldt back end. He scored five goals and one assist in dressing for all 13 playoff games. Bronco goalie Alex Gagnon is mulling over several NCAA Division I proposals; however he has one more season of junior eligibility and could opt to play in Humboldt as a 20-year-old. Humboldt forward Jeff Nuttall is also, reportedly, close to a Division III deal. OCN Blizzard forward Michael Young and 2003-04 teammate Pierre-Olivier Girouard will play in the CanWest conference of the CIS next season. Young was fifth in the MJHL scoring race with 23 goals and 64 assists in 57 games. He'll try his luck this Fall with the Manitoba Bisons. The 5'8, 195 lb centreman from Gillam was ineligible for an NCAA scholarship because he played briefly with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. He also had a brief stint with the Swift Current Broncos. Netminder Girouard joined the Blizzard midway through the 2003-04 campaign and ended up being, statistically, the top goalie in the MJHL by compiling a 20-6-and-1 ledger to go along with a 2.44 GAA and .930 SPCT. He also had two shutouts. The 6'6, 215 lb native of Moscouche, Quebec will play for the Regina Cougars. Like Young, Girouard was not eligible for NCAA consideration because he played in the QMJHL for parts of three seasons, including 2002-03 when he suited up in 49-games for Drummondville.
