Over 50 people braved the bitter weather on Sunday to support the CIBC Run for the Cure, the largest annual fundraiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. In Flin Flon, over $7,000 was raised through two businesses who sponsor the event. At the CIBC, $3,612 was raised through the local branch, while down the hill at Northland Ford, close to $3,700 was raised at various events throughout the year. "We were really happy with the run," said Teresa MacArthur on behalf of the CIBC. "We were happy with how many people turned out, considering the bitter wind." Last year, the CIBC raised $3,173 locally, and nationally, over $16.6 million was raised. "Ford Canada is a major sponsor of the Run, and as a Ford dealer, we've followed suit with what they are trying to do," said Stewart Williams from Northland Ford. "Just about everyone knows someone who is affected by breast cancer, making this a great cause to stand behind. The community has been very supportive of our events and many people made it out to the Run on Sunday despite the cold weather, which was really excellent to see." This was the 13th Annual Run for the Cure, which has raised over $100 million for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for research, education and support.
