Hapnot Collegiate's spirit squad has lots of spirit and they brought it on for their one and only competition in Winnipeg recently. Since September, 17 members worked hard to improve on their seventh place finish from last year. Though they didn't move up in positions, they did earn more points. "It was fun," said Andrea Stelnicki, a spirit squad leader along with Alex Davis. "We had lots of dedicated girls." According to Andrea and Alex, what helped the squad improve was the advanced skills of each member. "A lot of the girls danced and had gymnastics, which helps a lot," Alex said. Each team is judged on a point skills set of 300 with deductions coming from miscues. In the end the most important thing that came from their experience was having fun and meeting new girls. "We had a big sleepover," Andrea said, noting this helped unite the girls.
