CFAR 590 is partnering with Tri Service (Kinsmen/ Rotary/Lions) to put on a charity golf event that's coming our way August 17-22. The event is called the Million Dollar Hole in One. If you've been listening to the radio lately, you've probably heard some of the promotions being run over the air. To participate, all you have to do is buy balls from a Lion, Rotary, or Kinsmen member ahead of time for $15 or on site at the tournament for $20. Your bucket comes with 30 balls and a chance to win a prize. The trick is to get as close to the hole as possible. Try your luck. Thousands of dollars in prizes are to be given away throughout the tournament. Each day, the top 10 golfers closest to the hole will receive a prize. Local businesses participating by arranging for the prizes include Creighton Furniture & Appliance Centre, Frontline Sports & Leisure, Twin Motors, Acklands Grainger, Arctic Beverages, Canadian Tire, North of 53 Consumers' Coop, Nasselquist Jewelers, Northern Bus Lines, Northern Rainbow's End, Pharmasave, Stittco Energy Limited, Subway, The Victoria Inn, as well as the Ramada Hotel & Golf Dome. An amazing assortment of prizes has been gathered, such as a barbeque, patio set, tools, coolers, weekend getaway packages, honeymoon sweet accommodations, video and audio items, diamonds, gift baskets, grocery vouchers, a Playstation game, sweatshirts, T-shirts, Subway party platters and plenty more where all of that came from! The daily top 10 winners will also qualify as semi-finalists and compete for a chance to win a 2005 Dodge Caravan from Twin Motors, a 2004 Polaris 4X4 Ranger from Frontline Sport & Leisure, and finally, a 60 inch Panasonic LCD rear-projection TV from Creighton Furniture & Appliance Centre. But that's not all. The top six semi-finalists will move on to the final round held right here in Flin Flon. The prize for the finals is no less than one million dollars! And you'd think that would be it, that's enough. But no! The golfer who manages to land closest to the hole in the finals will also win a trip to compete in Provincial Playdowns in Regina for more prizes and a chance to win a trip to the nationals. Last year, the local winner, Neil Goodman did just that. This year there is a new development in the tournament which comes in the form of a ladies' event sponsored by Nasselquist Jewelers. The ladies are eligible to place in the daily top 10 as well as receive prizes for placing among the top ten lady golfers at the end of the tournament. Since this is a charity event, the proceeds from sale of golf balls go towards supporting our Tri Service club. Some of the earnings will also go toward the purchase of a brand new handivan. By participating, you're not only looking to have a load of fun and win some great stuff, you're also supporting the local service clubs.
