The Manitoba Junior Hockey League wishes to announce that the St. James Canadians have withdrawn their membership in the League. The Canadians notified the MJHL Commissioner of their decision on March 30, 2004. The MJHL Board of Governors are required to ratify this decision at the League Annual General Meeting on the weekend of June 4, 5 and 6, 2004 in Swan River. The St. James Canadians enjoyed a 37 year tenure in the MJHL and won the League championship three times in 1968, 1996 and 1997. They have a stellar record of developing Junior 'A' players for advancement to college, major junior and the professional hockey ranks. The Canadians have been a valued member of the League for a long time and will be missed. Player of the week The Old Dutch Player of the Week award for the week ending April 11, 2004, is goaltender Justin Harris of the Selkirk Steelers. Harris had a fantastic week leading the Steelers to the MJHL Championship over the Portage Terriers. In two games played Harris allowed only three goals recording a GAA of 1.50 and a save percentage of 0.948. The runner up for the Old Dutch Player of the Week award is forward Dustin Hughes of the Selkirk Steelers.
