It was a game of firsts for both the Canadians and McKeen's Trucking in Novice league action Wednesday at the Whitney Forum. "This game here, I didn't realize, but this is the first time we beat McKeen's," said Sean Black, coach of the Canadians following the win. "The guys were pretty pumped about that." After nearly surrendering a 4-3 lead, the Canadians won 7-4. Jody Tait, who plays both forward and defense for the Canadians, thought the game was good. "We tried hard," Jody said. He felt his opponents were a tough team to play against. McKeen's Trucking, which lost their first game against the Canadians, also lost their first of the season. In what started as a tight-checking game, the Canadians started taking control offensively. "They were playing good," said McKeen's Trucking coach Paul Linnick, outside his dressing room. "They capitalized on their chances." Linnick also stated that giving up several breakaways didn't help. McKeen's Trucking forward Evan Linnick felt his team played hard. "They were playing really good," Evan said, but added his team needed to pass more. Frustration set in for McKeen's Trucking forwards who couldn't bury chances when alone on Canadians goalie Zachary Crisp. "We hit a really good goalie," Linnick said. "Zach played really good."
