This past weekend, the annual Businessmen's Bonspiel was held at Willow Park with 16 teams entered. There were many great games to watch - some went to extra ends. Some pretty 'professional' shots were being made! Two young ladies who played for the Super K team, namely Ashley Kennedy and Jennifer Hughes, will be a pair to be reckoned with in the near future. This was their first curling bonspiel and they did very well! Everyone seemed to have a great time and a big thanks needs to go to Karen Roy who looked after things in her usual "competent" way. Karen presented the prizes to the winning teams. High Noon entertained the curlers off the ice on Saturday night and were well received by all who stayed to socialize. The winners of the three events are as follows: 'A' Event Arctic Beverage's team of Bryan White, Bev Baker, Kirk Huntley and Len Bolton (pictured, top, random order) won the final over the KWP team of Brett Davie, Hugh Quinn, Sandy Davie and Lorna Quinn. 'B' Event True North Aquatics' team of Greg Agerbak, Myrna Agerbak, Rob Lengyel and Jennifer Daneliuk (pictured, middle) won over Konuto's team of Rhonda Snow, Gerry Beauchamp, Marshal Manns and Paulo Strappazon in a very well played game that went down to the last rock. 'C' Event HBMS team of Barry Lofgren, Dennis Anderson, Richard Rebelo and Larry Bartlette (pictured, bottom) won over the CIBC's team of Bev Lantz, Debbie Stenerson, Jeff Horner and Sandy Simms. Some upcoming events in the curling community include the Senior Mens' and Ladies' Bonspiel on January 28-30, the Masters Zone Playoffs on February 3-4, the Ladies' Annual Bonspiel on March 11-12 and the Annual Men's Bonspiel on March 18-20. The date for the Mixed Zones is pending.
