After blasting through the teams in Flin Flon, Burkees Bedlam were off to Saskatoon to try and claim their title as provincial champions. The team, made up of eight guys and seven girls, made their way through to the final game of the weekend and came home with a second place title. A second place win will be sending the team to Nationals next year in Niagara Falls, Ont., for the long weekend in August. ÒWe attended four years ago,Ó says player Chad Trumbley. ÒAnd we hope to better our placing in that tournament then we did four years ago.Ó Last year, the team placed fifth in the Country, but Trumbley says they still hope to better that. ÒWeÕre pleased,Ó he says, referring to the second place finish in Saskatoon recently. ÒObviously itÕs never the goal to finish second, but we played well throughout the weekend. We are quite pleased.Ó The team, according to Trumbley, scored a Òlarge number of runs over the weekend.Ó But they ran into a team in the finals who was hitting the ball really well. ÒBut this is a pretty satisfying way to end the year,Ó he says. ÒWe worked hard and were able to translate that into a second place finish in the Province. ThatÕs pretty satisfying.Ó
