Submitted by SJHL Flin Flon goaltender Devin Buffalo was recognized once again for his efforts between the pipes. Player of the Week Jeremy Johnson, Yorkton Terriers 1992 F Jeremy Johnson (Yorkton SK) opened up the Sherwood Division final with a hat trick performance as he led the Terriers to a 3-1 win over Melville in game one and an, eventual, 2-0 series lead in the best of seven. Two of Johnson's goals came on great individual efforts as he undressed defensemen and then the third was from a real sharp angle late in the third period that was the nail in the coffin for game one. Defenseman of the Week Logan Sproule, Humboldt Broncos 1993 D Logan Sproule (Saskatoon SK) is the anchor of the Humboldt Bronco defense and may very well be the SJHL's best all around blueliner when you look at the total package of his game. Sproule picked up a goal in game one's overtime victory over Flin Flon in the North Division final and then added an assist in a game two win as well. Sproule was, especially, good defensively on Saturday night when he helped limit the Bombers to under 30 shots despite Flin Flon getting six powerplays, two of which were 5-on-3 man advantages. Rookie of the Week Zach Simpson, Melville Millionaires 1993 D Zach Simpson (Parker CO) is playing a key role for the Melville Millionaires as they try to advance to the Canalta Cup finals with a defense built around a cast that is short on superstars. In fact, with number one man Brennan Ritchie injured early in the Yorkton series, it was Simpson who got the nod to eat up most of Ritchie's ice time. Goaltender of the Week Devin Buffalo, Flin Flon Bombers 1993 G Devin Buffalo (Wetaskiwin AB) didn't win either of his starts last week as the Flin Flon Bombers fell behind 0-2 against the Humboldt Broncos; but Buffalo was the reason his teammates were able to get into double overtime in game one and then he kept the Broncos at bay in game two and Flin Flon came within a single goal again of stealing a win. Buffalo had numerous saves both nights that would make any highlight reel.
