Flin Flon Bomber goaltender Devin Buffalo was picked as the Goaltender of the Week. Buffalo is the first Bomber to receive the league recognition this season _ as he was recognized on October 8. 1993 G Devin Buffalo (Wetaskiwin AB) helped the Bombers get a split in their two games against Kindersley over a recent weekend. The Klippers, who have been firing on all cylinders, were slowed by Buffalo's 38-save performance on Friday night in giving up just one goal. He finished the week with a 2.02 GAA and a .941 SPCT. The SJHL announced four new top players for last week. Player of the Week Gio Bombini, Kindersley Klippers 1993 F Gio Bombini (Edmonton AB) collected two points in each of his team's three road games over the last week as the Klippers improved to a league best 6-1-and-1. Bombini had a goal and an assist on the powerplay on Friday night in a win over La Ronge. He also had a goal and an assist in a shootout loss to Melfort one night later. On Sunday, he picked up a goal and also assisted on the tying score in the final minute of the third of an extra time win in Nipawin. For the season, he has three goals and seven assists in eight games. Defenseman of the Week Chase Norrish, Yorkton Terriers 1993 D Chase Norrish (Strongfield SK) had three assists in three games played last week as the Terriers improved their regular season record to 6-and-3. He set up a pair of powerplay goals in Saturday's road win over Melville. He also had an assist in Tuesday's home win over Humboldt. For the season, he's up to two goals and six assists in nine games played. It was also announced last week that Chase and his twin brother Brady have accepted scholarships to RIT for next Fall (NCAA Div I). Rookie of the Week Nathan Morris, Weyburn Red Wings 1994 D Nathan Morris (Arvada CO) is a 19-year-old rookie, who is making an impact with the Red Wings in their rebuilding effort. Morris contributing two goals and two assists in two games played last week picking up two assists on Wednesday night in Melfort and then scoring a pair of goals the following night in La Ronge. It was the first four points for Morris this season over the course of eight games played. Goaltender of the Week Isaiah Plett, Melville Millionaires 1993 G Isaiah Plett (Steinbach MB) got his first taste of the Yorkton-Melville rivalry over the weekend and acquitted himself just fine as he led the Mils to securing three of a possible four points. On Friday, he made 34 saves on 35 shots to get the win on the road. The very next night, he stopped 27-of-30 as the Terriers were only able to beat him on the powerplay (all three goals with man advantage).
