The Humboldt Broncos and Yorkton Terriers were tied at one win apiece heading into Game 3 of the Canalta Cup finals last night. The two teams, representing the Bauer and Sherwood conferences, started the series with Game 1 in Humboldt on Friday. The Broncos took a 3-2 win in overtime. The Terriers then hosted the Broncos Sunday and picked up a 3-2 win to tie the series. Game 3 was played last night in Humboldt, after The Reminder went to press, as the teams alternate hosting. Game 4 is set for tomorrow night, with Game 5 on Saturday. Sunday will see the Terriers host Game 6, if needed, while Game 7 is set for Tuesday in Humboldt. Friday's overtime was the first extended game the Terriers have seen in the 2013 playoffs. But overtime was nothing new for the Broncos as they had seen four extended games before Friday. Humboldt lost 3-2 to Melfort early in the playoffs, but rebounded by winning all three of their following OT games. The winner of the SJHL finals will advance to challenge the winner of the MJHL. The Steinbach Pistons and the Dauphin Kings are fighting for the MJHL title. Dauphin took Game 1 last Saturday with a 5-2 win on home ice. Game 2 was in Steinbach on Monday.
