The Humboldt Broncos and Yorkton Terriers are facing elimination after weekend SJHL playoff action. Two Kindersley wins have the Klippers up 3-1 in their series against the defending Royal Bank Cup champion Broncos, while the Terriers used a hometown power-play in the dying minutes of regulation on Friday to stay alive in their series with the Weyburn Red Wings. On Friday night, the Klippers fought off a third period three-goal onslaught by the Broncos to win 4-3. Chad Seidel and Jade Boklaschuk had first period goals for Kindersley, while Mark Nysetvold made it 3-0 in the second and Seidel's second of the game gave the Klippers a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. Arlen Marshall scored short handed early in the third period, and Kevin Duchaine cut the Kindersley lead to two goals with a power-play goal half way through the period. Colin Wilson's first tally of the playoffs made it a one goal game with over four minutes to go, but that was as close as they could get to tying the game. The Klippers out shot the Broncos 28-17 in the first two periods, but Humboldt picked things up in the third, leading 12-9 in shots on net. Both teams scored one power-play goal on a combined 17 chances - the Broncos had one extra advantage. On Friday in Yorkton, the Terriers used a gift with two minutes remaining in regulation time to score the game-winning goal on a power-play. Jason Beatty scored the power-play goal with Roan Blampin in the box for roughing after the whistle at 18:43. Matt Wheeler scored for Weyburn in the first period, and Justin Keller tied the game on a power-play at 18:45 of the opening frame. Weyburn controlled the second period, but could not beat goaltender Kevin Dziaduck. Yorkton scored two goals on eight power plays, while Weyburn was held scoreless on three advantages. Final shots on net were 27-22 in favour of the Wings. A healthy crowd of 1,612 fans were in attendance. In Kindersley on Saturday, 1,010 fans came out to watch the Klippers beat the Broncos 5-2. The Klippers out shot the Broncos 48-27, including 19-7 in the first period. Thomas Huling scored first for Kindersley at 16:43 of the first period, but Luke Strueby replied at 17:10 to tie the game. Troy Schwab did all the scoring for the Klippers in the second period, getting goals at 2:13 on a power play and at 8:12 to make it 3-1. Brendan Vanthuyne scored on a power play for Humboldt to bring them within a goal heading into the third period, but Kindersley controlled the third period out shooting the Broncos 12-8 and scoring twice. Eric Schwabe and Derek Dorsett scored to make the final score 5-2. Both teams were 1/6 on the power play.
