With a win and a loss under their belt from the weekend, the Bombers were on the road for their third game in three days. It could have been the wear and tear from the road, but the Bombers were unable to deliver a win as they faced off against the Humboldt Broncos on Sunday night. Nearly 900 fans turned out to see the top SJHL team take on the Flin Flon Bombers in the Elgar Peterson Arena. The first period saw little net action as the Broncos scored the first and only goal of the period almost 18 minutes in. Tanner Vandesype got the home teamÕs first of five goals past Calvin Bartel. The first 20 minutes of play only saw a few penalties for each team as the Bombers were given two-two minute time outs as Dominic Martel was called on roughing after the whistle, as was Bronco Mitchell Peeke. Myles Masse was given two minutes behind the glass for roughing and Bronco Josh Garneau was given two minutes for hooking. Bartel saw eight shots come his way in the first period, letting only one in. And the Maroon and White had six chances on net, but were still unable to get by Taylor Nelson. With a score of 1-0 for Humboldt, the second period saw much more puck action as both teams earned themselves two goals. Starting things off was Bronco Dane Lindskon with a goal after only 2:52 of play. And it was Edward Gale of Humboldt scoring the teamÕs third goal of the night before the Bombers got into the game and closed the scoring gap. Masse found the back of the net less than five minutes later with help from Pierre-Luc Boucher and Michael Young. And Dennis Kubat kept it coming with an unassisted goal with less than a minute left in the period. Only three penalties were handed out as Humboldt was called on roughing and hooking while Reid MacLeod was given two minutes for holding. Bartel saw another 13 shots come his way, letting in only a couple, but it was the Bombers who had six shots an capitalized on two of them in the second period. With a score of 3-2 at the start of the third period, it was anyoneÕs game, but it the Broncos who managed another two goals to the Bombers one. And it was Humboldt again who got the scoring started with a goal after 3:35 of play. Over half way through the third period, with a score or 4-2, the Broncos did it again. Jordan Schindel found the back of the net once again. But the scoring wasnÕt over. Flin Flon picked it up again and lit the lantern one last time that night as Cameron MacKinnon, with help from Harley Garrioch, found the back of the net. With a final score of 5-3, the third period saw a number of penalties as Flin Flon served seven and Humboldt had five. The Bombers were back on home ice last night as they took on the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Details to follow in FridayÕs paper. The Broncos are back in Flin Flon on Friday as the two teams are up against each other for the third time this month.
