The Humboldt Broncos put themselves into excellent position to qualify for the playoffs at the RBC Cup in Victoria after they defeated the Kingston Voyageurs 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The Broncos improved to 2-and-1 and sat in second place in the round robin standings with one game remaining against the 0-and-2 Summerside Capitals on Thursday. Humboldt fired 18 shots at Shawn Sirman in the first period, but were unable to beat him. Trailing 1-0, Taylor Piller finally broke through midway through the second and that sparked a three goal in five minute outburst for the SJHL champs as Dimitri Levin and Tory Allan also dented the twin and the Broncos led 3-2 after forty minutes. Scott Schroeder's powerplay goal at 7:20 of the third increased the lead to 4-2 and Shawn Hunter counted an empty netter late to round out the scoring. Andrew Bodnarchuk got his first start between the pipes since the Flin Flon series and made 21-saves to earn the win. Brady Wacker was the Player of the Game for Humboldt.
