The Humboldt Broncos won their second straight ANAVET Cup by defeating the Portage Terriers 5-4 in overtime in game seven on Sunday night. The Broncos rallied for the improbable win after coming from behind at 4-1 down going into the third period. However, Cory More took a five minute major for kneeing and the Broncos made Portage pay for that misdeed as they scored two powerplay goals during that major and then Scott Schroeder capped a four point game by scoring the tying goal at 19:13. Nick Kalnicki won it at 5:56 of OT. The Broncos not only trailed 4-1 with twenty minutes left in regulation in this game, but they also trailed 3-games-to-1 in this series before storming back to win the last three, including the last two on the road. Steven Schroeder and Tanner Vandesype also scored for Humboldt, who had a pair from Scott Schroeder. Ryan Audino, Dylan Kelly, Eric Delong, and Riley Nixdorf scored for the Terriers. The SJHL has now won this series eleven of the last fourteen years and lead the overall series 28-11.
