The Bombers took a hard fall as they took on the Broncos in Humboldt on Tuesday night. Going in with the hopes of regaining their second place conference title, the Bombers came out with a loss. The Broncos skated away on their own turf with a 3-1 win. For the first game in what seems like a while, the Bombers were also outshot by the Broncos 29-26. The game got started with a scoreless first period, but Humboldt saw the first and only penalty of the period. At 4:15, Bronco Jordan Schindel sat two minutes in the box for kneeing. With the first period over, both teams were hungry to get back on the ice for the second period. It took some time, but the Broncos scored the first goal of the game after 10 minutes of play, giving them a 1-0 lead over the visiting Maroon and White. Five minutes later, 15:07 to be exact, Bomber David Linsley scored the team's first and only goal of the game, tying the score at one apiece. Helping out with Linsley's goal was newcomer Barrett Penner and Tommy Castonguay. The Bombers saw three penalties that period, two of which belonged to Harley Garrioch. Garrioch was called on checking from behind, giving him two minutes in the box and a game misconduct. Castonguay also saw the inside of the box for two minutes after his hooking call. The Broncos had two players in the box during the second 20 minutes of play. First up was Schnidel, who got two minutes for roughing, while teammate Justin Stoski spent his two minutes behind the glass for holding. The third period started with the Broncos scoring their second goal of the night, breaking the tie to make it 2-1. Scoring for the home team was Stoski at 4:54. Their final goal of the night was scored unassisted by Tory Allan after 19:28 into the period. Flin Flon received four penalties this period, starting off with Scott Day for interference. Brennan Cox was next, serving his time for hooking, while Penner was given two minutes for roughing as well as a game misconduct. The Broncos had three penalties, which were also for interference, roughing and a game misconduct. The final score of the game, 3-1, left the Bombers in third place in the Itech Conference, as of November 6. Calvin Bartel was in net for the Bombers, stopping 26 of the 29 shots on net, while Humboldt goalie Taylor Nelson stopped 25 of his 26 shots. The Bombers hit the ice tonight here at the Whitney Forum to take on the Yorkton Terriers.
